Yoga techniques for gut health and metabolism
Workshop details
Problems such as bloating, constipation and digestive disorders are very common today, often caused by stress and a sedentary lifestyle. But they are not new. As early as the 15th century, hatha yoga had a whole set of exercises to support the digestive system. Some of them were meant to stimulate the “digestive fire”, that is, to support metabolism. Such techniques include agnisara and nauli. In this workshop we will learn these techniques along with other abdominal manipulations.
If you ask me which yoga technique to choose when you only have 5 minutes in the morning, I'll answer without hesitation: nauli. Nauli is the best way to start your day.
Nauli is a self-massage of the abdomen that involves activating and isolating the rectus abdominis muscle. It stimulates circulation in the abdomen, improves the function of internal organs, aids digestion and metabolism, and eases bowel movements.
During the workshop:
- we will focus on practice that prepares you for and helps you learn nauli,
- there will also be other, much easier abdominal manipulations that also support gut function,
- we will also work with the breath and movement from the core, which have a big impact on the health of our abdomen.
Please note!
It's best to come to the workshop on an empty stomach.
Nauli should not be practised during pregnancy, menstruation or abdominal inflammation!
